Helping Dogs Live Better Lives Since 1945

History of the Club

Mountaineer Kennel Club has been helping dogs live better lives in northern West Virginia since being incorporated in 1945.

MKC is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that encourages the responsible breeding, training, handling and maintenance of dogs by both current and prospective dog fanciers. Current class offerings include but are not limited to obedience, puppy, conformation, scentwork, tricks and more.

MKC is a proud sponsor of the AKC Canine Health Foundation.

Outreach

As an active organization within the northern West Virginia area, MKC takes an active role in participating with outreach events that help educate and promote dog ownership to the general public.

In the past we have participated in Bark in the Park, Dog Splash, Black Diamond Cluster Dog Show, and the Bark for Like of Monongalia County.
